Sabrina Carpenter Says Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Influenced Her Short n’ Sweet Show

In a new Vogue cover story, Sabrina Carpenter credits Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour for inspiring her Short n’ Sweet Tour. Carpenter opened 25 shows on The Eras Tour,  and Swift’s stadium performances influenced her approach to her own arena shows. “Her stadiums make my shows look like clubs,” Carpenter admits, praising Swift’s ability to “keep their attention as if she’s playing in their living room.” Sabrina eventually told Taylor, “Your tour enabled me to do mine.’” Carpenter finished the North American leg of her Short n’ Sweet Tour in November, with European dates beginning in March. Carpenter’s label, Island Records, wanted “Please Please Please” to be the lead single from Short n’ Sweet, but Carpenter felt strongly that “Espresso” should be first. “I knew deep down that it was this song,” she said. Carpenter was vindicated when “Espresso” won the singer her first Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance, moments before Short n’ Sweet was awarded Best Pop Vocal Album. (Billboard)
