On Tuesday (November 5), a judgeruled that Dr. Dre no longer has to keep his distance from divorce therapist Dr. Charles Sophy, who is suing the rapper for $10 million over alleged harassment. The judge found that Sophy failed to prove that Dre posed a threat to his physical safety, and dismissed a provisional restraining order that was granted last month. “The court finds the party requesting the order of protection did not sustain the applicable burden of proof and accordingly the request is denied. Any temporary restraining order earlier issued is hereby dissolved,” ruled Los Angeles County Judge Melanie Ochoa. Sophy appeared in person at the hearing and gave live testimony, while Dre appeared remotely and testified over video. In Dre’s sworn testimony, the Grammy-winning producer claimed Sophy’s lawsuit and restraining order application was “a misguided attempt to undermine” his reputation. (Rolling Stone)
