On Monday (March 31), Miley Cyrus released the music video for the title track of her new concept album, Something Beautiful. Cyrus co-wrote the single with Ryan Beatty and her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, and she also directed the video with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walterwhich, which is part of a planned full-length film. Cyrus also shared a clip for her new spoken word track, “Prelude,” which will be featured on the album as well. “The visual component of this is driving the sound, so I have this heart-first attachment to it.” Cyrus says of her new project, which draws inspiration from Pink Floyd’s 1979 concept album. “My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture. … The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty.” Something Beautiful is due out on May 30, and is a follow up to 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation, which produced the smash hit single, “Flowers,” and won Cyrus her first two Grammy Awards.
