A Mom Buys Out an Entire Payless Store and Donates All the Shoes to Charity

A woman in Arkansas bought out an entire Payless shoe store that was closing down, and got 1,500 pairs of shoes for pennies on the dollar.  Now she’s holding an event where parents can get free kids’ shoes, just in time for the new school year…

A woman in northwest Arkansas named Carrie Jernigan recently took her kids to the mall to get new shoes and to her luck, saw that Payless was having a liquidation sale.

Her daughter asked if they could buy a pair of Avengers shoes for her friend at school, who couldn’t afford shoes that fit.  Carrie then asked the cashier how much it would cost to buy ALL the shoes they had left.

There were about 300 pairs and she won’t say how much they cost, but a woman in Kansas did the same thing recently, and got 204 pairs of shoes for 49 cents each.

Things got even more generous though because when Carrie came back with a truck to pick the shoes up, she found out the store had just gotten another shipment of another THOUSAND PAIRS of shoes.  So she bought all those shoes too.

She ended up with just under 1,500 pairs of shoes and won’t say how much she spent, but the total value of the shoes BEFORE her discount was about $21,000.

In total there were 400 adult shoes and 1,100 pairs of children’s’ shoes.
