A book purchased for less than $1, this first edition “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” book just conjured up some SERIOUS magic. It sold for a whopping $34,500 on Thursday at Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers, LTD.
This is just 1 of 500 that exists due to three mistakes in the writing and editing process.
To think, this book was just sitting in the back of the owners closet. Forgotten and dusty. When she discovered it she went straight to rare book experts to confirm the books’ rarity and a private collector in the UK bought faster than you can say Severus Snape!!
“This book is J.K. Rowling’s first book and first in the Harry Potter series,” Spencer said in a BBC interview. “She couldn’t get a publishing deal. When she finally did, only 500 were printed — and 300 of them went to the library. Everyone has heard of this book. It has won the hearts and imaginations of the young and the old.”
